Art Exhibit Features Painting and Photography
Sunday September 6, 2009 - Noon to 4 pm

"Euphemia in the Garden" by Pat Todd   Dichroic Glass Pendants by Pane in the Glass Studio   "Daddy's Little Girl" by Marianne Walch

Silver Lotus Training Institute in Lewes presents an exhibition of paintings by New Jersey artist Pat Todd and of recent photographs by local artist Marianne Walch.   The show will also include handcrafted dichroic glass jewelry and art by Pane in the Glass Studio of Lewes.  The one-day exhibit will be held Sunday, September 6th, from noon to 4 pm, at the Quakertown Integrative Healthcare Center, 1307 Savannah Road in Lewes.  The art exhibit is being held in conjunction with a Silver Lotus Training Institute open house. Wine and light refreshments will be offered.  The show and open house are free of charge.

Pat Todd, of Bordentown, New Jersey, says that her interest in art began with drawing “Binky” from the back of a matchbook when she was 12.  Her acrylic on canvas paintings depict times gone by, and, to paraphrase Proust, the remembrance of things past is not necessarily of how they truly were.  When Todd first encounters her subjects – whether landscapes, objects or people – she has an auditory reaction to them, and she tries to incorporate what she “hears” into the piece.

Marianne Walch, of Millsboro, moved to the Delaware shore from the D.C. area seven years ago. Walch works in both black and white and color, producing energetic digital images that focus on form and light.  Sunday’s show will feature new pieces that include images of animals, summer fair scenes, and architecture.  She is represented locally by Detail Gallery in Rehoboth Beach.

Pane in the Glass Studio is owned and operated by Lewes artists Jan Brunory, Val Dellas, and Judy Phillips.  The studio does customized stained glass windows and dichroic art work, as well as a unique line of sterling silver and dichroic glass jewelry.  They were recently commissioned to design an exclusive line of jewelry and accessories for the Empire State Building’s gift shop.
